How it works

Wrong call? See what happens.

  1. Learner Lane asking what to do when approaching a STOP sign, with three answer choices
    1

    Make the call

A 3D scene plays and pauses at the moment that matters: a light turning yellow, a school bus stopping ahead, an ambulance behind you. Pick what to do, or tap the car you should yield to.

  2. A crash at a STOP sign in Learner Lane with the explanation that a STOP sign means a complete stop at the line
    2

    See what happens

Wrong call? Watch the near miss, the ticket or the crash play out, with a one-line reason why. It sticks far better than a red X on a flashcard.

Learner Lane hazard perception clip: tap when a hazard develops on a street lined with parked cars

Hazard perception

Spot the hazard before it's one

Hazard perception test practice with 3D clips generated fresh every time, so you can't memorize where to tap. Tap as a hazard starts to develop: the earlier you tap, the more points you score, from 5 down to 1. Take 10-clip mock tests and replay each clip with the hazard marked.

Driving hours log

Log every supervised hour, day and night

Start a timer when you pull out, stop it when you park. Learner Lane splits day and night driving and tracks your progress toward your goal. 50 hours with 10 at night is a common requirement in the US. The log is free and unlimited.

About the driving hours log

24 countries. 7 languages.

Pick the country you're testing in and, separately, the language you learn in. Traffic side, speed units, sign designs and region-only rules follow the country: right on red, 4-way stops, school buses, roundabout priority.

Questions learners ask

Is Learner Lane free?

Yes, you can start free. The Road signs chapter is free, you get 2 hazard perception clips and 15 quiz questions every day, and the driving hours log is free and unlimited. To unlock every chapter, unlimited hazard clips, mock tests and quiz questions, buy the Pass Pass once.

Is the Pass Pass a subscription?

No. Pass Pass is a one-time purchase ($14.99 in the US; prices in other countries may vary). There's nothing to cancel and no weekly charge. It belongs to your Apple Account and works with Family Sharing.

Will it help me pass my permit test and road test?

Learner Lane teaches the rules of the road the way you'll meet them while driving: road signs, traffic lights, right of way, weather and night driving, and sharing the road. That makes the written permit test questions easier to reason through and prepares you for the decisions examiners watch on the road test. No app can guarantee a pass, so use it alongside your official driver handbook and real supervised driving.

Is this a driving simulator game?

No. Learner Lane is an education app, not a racing or parking game. Each level is a short scripted 3D situation built around one traffic rule. You make the decision a careful driver would make, and the app shows the consequence of each choice.

Does it work for my state or country?

Learner Lane is set up for 24 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. Traffic side, speed units, sign designs and region-only rules (such as right turn on red, 4-way stops, school buses and roundabout priority) follow the country you choose. Always check your state or local driver handbook for the exact rules and the supervised hours you need.

Can I use it in Spanish or another language?

Yes. The app is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese. Your app language and your test country are set separately, so you can study US rules in Spanish, for example.

Are these official DMV or DVSA questions and clips?

No. Learner Lane is an independent practice app and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any DMV, the DVSA or another licensing authority. The 3D situations, hazard clips and quiz questions are original practice material written to match the rules, not copies of official test content.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up and no ads. Your progress and driving log are saved on your device.
